Hello from

Beyond the Screen

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

The Peace of Wild Things, Wendell Berry

I am inspired by daily interactions and experiences that often are considered mundane or ‘in-between,’ by sharing meals with found family and new friends, and by exploration of all kinds.

I find myself especially energized by playing among and connecting to the natural world and can usually be found wandering trails by ski, by bike, or on double-track with the dogs leading the way.

I relish in drinking natural wines outside with friends, reading four books at once, finding flat rocks in the sun to ‘lizard’, debating the philosophy of curiosity, and creating large-scale abstract expressionist paintings.

I believe joy is a boundless form of resistance.
